Ovarian Stimulation Protocols

A crucial factor in the success of in vitro fertilization (IVF) is ovarian stimulation. The primary goal of this process is to produce multiple eggs, increasing the chances of fertilization and a successful pregnancy.

This is achieved through the administration of specific medications that activate and regulate ovarian function. The process is closely monitored through various medical tests (ultrasounds, blood tests, etc.) to ensure the proper development of the follicles.

The Ovarian Stimulation Process
There are different ovarian stimulation protocols that can be applied, depending on the specifics of each case:

  • Long Protocol: In this protocol, medications are initially given to suppress hormone production, aiming for a better-controlled cycle. This is followed by the administration of ovarian stimulation drugs.
  • Short Protocol: In this approach, stimulation begins earlier, typically for women who respond better to treatment. It is more flexible and can provide quicker results.
  • Antagonist Protocol: In this protocol, medications are used to prevent premature ovulation, allowing for more flexibility in managing the process.

IVF Medications

The medications used for ovarian stimulation mainly include hormones such as FSH and LH, which are essential for the development and maturation of eggs. These are administered through injections (in the thigh or abdomen), with the dosage adjusted according to the patient and the progress of the cycle.

Complication Prevention

At our clinic, we place special emphasis on preventing complications and multiple pregnancies. Through careful monitoring, individualized protocols, and the administration of appropriate medications, we aim to ensure the health and well-being of patients undergoing the ovarian stimulation process.
