EYE LIFT - BLEPHAROPLASTY

As we age, our eyelids stretch and excess skin is concentrated on the area around the eyes, giving us a tired, hooded and aged look.

Blepharoplasty  is a surgical procedure for correcting defects or deformities of the eyelids, and for aesthetically improving the appearance of the eye region of the face.

Blepharoplasty (or eyelid surgery) can treat droopy or saggy eyelids, excess skin or bags under the eyes, and fine wrinkles on the lower eyelids.  Morever, it can eliminate various functional problems caused by severely sagging eyelid skin (e.g. reduced peripheral vision).

Eyelid surgery is the most effective way to enhance the shape and appearance of eyes, giving the entire face a refreshed appearance.

Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids or both.

On the upper eyelid, the plastic surgeon makes a tiny cut along the fold of the eyelid in order to remove or redistribute excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat.

On the lower lid, the surgeon makes a small cut below the lashes in your eye’s natural crease or inside the lower lid. As in upper eyelid excess skin, muscle, and possibly fat are removed.

Most of the times, eyelid surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis, thus the patient can go home shortly after the procedure. General anesthesia is applied only in rare cases.

You may consider blepharoplasty if you’re starting to have droopy or saggy eyelids, and excess skin or bags under your eyes. Moreover, this type of surgery may go beyond cosmetic concerns, if your vision is affected by sagging skin.

However, if the problem is not extended, you may consider Plasma Tec Blepharoplasty. This procedure is 100% non-ablative as it is performed without incisions, cutting,  removing fat, or altering the orbicularis muscle in the eyelids, while providing impressive, imminent results.

You can discuss your aspirations with our specially trained cosmetic surgeons and learn the ways this procedure could be able to benefit you.

As with all surgeries, we follow specific medical protocols, e.g. we review the patient’s medical history, we conduct physical exams, vision examinations, medical tests, etc.

During your initial consultation, you will have the chance to talk about any concerns you may have with our experienced surgeon.

The procedure is not major and most of the times, eyelid surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis; the patient can go home shortly after the procedure.
Usually, patients are able to return to work 7-10 days after an upper eyelid surgery, and 10-14 days after a lower eyelid surgery.

A blepharoplasty can be combined with a brow lift, a rhinoplasty, or a face-lift.
