Subfascial breast augmentation refers to a technique in which the implant is placed beneath the fascia, a membrane that covers the pectoral muscle.
This method results in an almost 100% natural appearance as it eliminates the look of the implants being “stuck on” to the chest. Moreover, subfascial placements prevent the ripple effect above the areola.
Although subfascial breast implant placement is superior to other placements, not many surgeons are trained to perform this type of placement procedure yet, as it requires a high degree of surgical skill and extensive training.
However, the surgeons at VF Laser Clinics have found that subfascial breast implant placement combines the benefits of both subglandular and submuscular placement, and they have the skill to perform it successfully!
The Dual Plane could be described as a combination of the submuscular and the subfascial implant placement techniques.
More specifically, the implant is placed both underneath the muscle and the muscle fascia, as a part of the silicone implant is covered by the pectoralis major muscle and the rest of it by the muscle fascia.
The Dual Plane method combines partial retropectoral and retromammary pocket locations in a single patient to optimize the benefits of each pocket location while limiting the tradeoffs and risks of a single pocket location. As a result, not only the implant’s contact with the mammary gland is minimized, but also an almost 100% natural result is achieved, particularly for thin women with very small breasts.
At VF Laser Clinics, we adjust the exact degree to which the muscle is released from the breast tissue depending on the patient’s anatomy and aesthetic goals, in order to achieve optimal implant placement for each and every individual!
Typically, any woman who desire to increase the size of her breasts and to improve the shape of her body is a candidate for breast augmentation.
According to surveys, 4 common reasons for a woman to undergo breast augmentation surgery are:
- Small breasts (micromastia),
- Breast asymmetry (anisomasty),
- Desire for a larger breast size or a youthful appearance
- Reduced breast volume due to pregnancy or sudden weight loss.
This is often one of the most difficult decisions as every patient’s ultimate appearance goals, body type and medical condition are different.
During your consultation, our clinics experienced plastic plastic surgeons will work with you to carefully identify the implant size and placement that best fits you, setting obtainable and healthy expectations together.
Although implant technology has evolved greatly, the right implant for each patient depends on her goals, preferences, and anatomy. As far as it concerns safety, most medical studies haven’t show any significant differences between the safety of silicone filled and saline filled breast implants.
Our trained cosmetic surgeons will help you make the best choice.
Although recovery time for breast augmentation can vary considerably, most of our patients return to their normal activities within 48 to 72 hours from surgery.
However, the return to your work depends mostly on your job and its physical demands. You should have in mind that lifting anything heavier than 5 pounds (2kgr) should be avoided for 6 weeks after the operation.
Feel free to contact our experienced plastic surgeons for any question.
Off course! You may choose to combine breast augmentation with breast lift (mastopexy), liposuction, abdominoplasty or labiaplasty. You can also add facial surgical procedures or even advanced non-surgical treatments.
