One of the most advanced breast augmentation methods is the Subfascial technique.
This process differs from the others in that the insertion of the implant is applied under the fascia of the pectoralis major muscle.
The biggest advantage of the subfascial technique is the naturalness of the result, since the implant is not positioned under the mammary gland (as in other techniques), but is placed at a greater depth (the fascia covers the implant).
In addition, since the surgeon does not interfere with the anatomy of the mammary gland, the whole procedure is almost trauma-free and the healing process is extremely fast.
Thus, after surgery there is little to no indication that a surgery has been performed.
As for the techniques of the implants insertion, these are customized based on the individual needs of each candidate. So, depending on the case, the incision can be made:
- at the lower border of the areola (the area surrounding the nipple of the breast)
- in the hypomastoid groove (located in the crease just below the breast)
The subfascial technique uses state-of-the-art silicone implants, which of course allow breastfeeding in the future.
Although subfascial breast implant placement is superior to other placements, not many surgeons are trained to perform this type of placement procedure yet, as it requires a high degree of surgical skill and extensive training.
The surgeons at VF Laser Clinics have found that subfascial breast implant placement combines the benefits of both subglandular and submuscular placement, and they have the skill to perform it successfully!
Apart from the Subfascial technique, VF Clinics also perform the advanced Dual Plane technique.
In this method, the implant is positioned in two anatomical areas, under the mammary gland (as in other techniques), as well as under the major pectoral muscle.
The biggest advantage of the Dual Plane technique is that during surgery, we can ‘shape’ the breast area in a teardrop pattern , providing it with the most youthful appearance a patient could ask for.
As for the techniques of the implants insertion, these are customized based on the individual needs of each candidate. So, depending on the case, the incision can be made:
- at the lower border of the areola (the area surrounding the nipple of the breast)
- in the hypomastoid groove (located in the crease just below the breast)
As in the other techniques, Dual Plane uses state-of-the-art silicone implants, which of course allow breastfeeding in the future.
Typically, any woman who desire to increase the size of her breasts and to improve the shape of her body is a candidate for breast augmentation.
According to surveys, 4 common reasons for a woman to undergo breast augmentation surgery are:
- Small breasts (micromastia),
- Breast asymmetry (anisomasty),
- Desire for a larger breast size or a youthful appearance
- Reduced breast volume due to pregnancy or sudden weight loss.
This is often one of the most difficult decisions as every patient’s ultimate appearance goals, body type and medical condition are different.
During your consultation, our clinic’s experienced plastic surgeons will work with you to carefully identify the implant size and placement that best fits you, setting obtainable and healthy expectations together.
Although implant technology has evolved greatly, the right implant for each patient depends on her goals, preferences, and anatomy. As far as safety is concerned, most medical studies haven’t shown any significant differences between the safety of silicone filled and saline filled breast implants.
Our trained cosmetic surgeons will help you make the best choice.
Although recovery time for breast augmentation can vary considerably, most of our patients return to their normal activities within 48 to 72 hours from surgery.
However, the return to your work depends mostly on your job and its physical demands. You should have in mind that lifting anything heavier than 5 pounds (2kgr) should be avoided for 6 weeks after the operation.
Feel free to contact our experienced plastic surgeons for any question.
Off course! You may choose to combine breast augmentation with breast lift (mastopexy), liposuction, abdominoplasty or labiaplasty. You can also add facial surgical procedures or even advanced non-surgical treatments.
