RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty is performed for both aesthetic and practical reasons.
While some people come to the plastic surgeon asking to reconstruct the shape, size and appearance of the nose, others primarily want to restore the nasal septum in order to improve breathing function.
It is a procedure that requires delicate handling and experience from the surgeon, since he/she needs to operate on many different types of tissue (skin, muscles, connective tissue, cartilage and bone parts).
In addition, because the nose is central to the face, any deviation is noticeable. Thus, the surgeon is called upon to form the shape and size of the nose in such a way that it is in harmony with the rest of the facial features.
Successful rhinoplasty contributes both to the enhancement of the patient’s self-esteem and to the improvement of his/her quality of life, since breathing plays a central role in our health.
It is important to know that in many cases, the plastic surgeon can offer improvements to the shape of the nose in a non-invasive way, by using hyaluronic acid (fillers).
RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty, commonly called as “nose job”, is a plastic surgery procedure surgery to improve nose’s appearance (cosmetic rhinoplasty) or to improve its function (reconstructive rhinoplasty).
Cosmetic rhinoplasty seeks to change nose’s shape in order to enhance facial harmony, and it can treat nose size and width, wide or upturned nostrils, nasal asymmetry, enlarged or drooping nasal tip, etc.
Reconstructive surgery aims to treat breathing problems, to resolve nasal injuries caused by various traumas, to correct birth defects or failed primary rhinoplasties, etc.
Rhinoplasty is a complex procedure and a combination of knowledge, experience and artistry is needed to achieve the best results.
Our cosmetic surgeons have an excellent reputation among patients and other doctors, for applying sophisticated plastic surgery procedures and for delivering amazing rhinoplasty outcomes.

A rhinoplasty is either performed from inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty) or by making a small cut on the nose (open rhinoplasty). At VF Laser Clinics we use both techniques:
Closed Rhinoplasty
Closed rhinoplasty is most often applied in simpler cases involving the correction of the hump and the tip of the nose. The incisions are made inside the nose (in the nostrils), where the surgeon intervenes in the cartilaginous/bony frame with the help of special tools.
It is a much less complex procedure than open rhinoplasty. It can be performed under local anesthesia and mild sedation or under general anesthesia, depending on the case. This method ensures the avoidance of visible scars and faster postoperative recovery.
Open Rhinoplasty
The method of open rhinoplasty is used in cases where more detail is required in the reconstruction of the nasal anatomy.
Through a small external incision, the mucous membrane is initially detached from the nasal septum and the skin from the nasal frame, while the surgeon then reshapes the cartilaginous/bony frame, depending on the patient’s problem.
Open rhinoplasty can also be performed under local anesthesia and mild sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the individual case. A light plaster is applied internally, while externally the nose is covered with a splint for a few days. Full recovery takes longer than in closed rhinoplasty.
It concerns women, men and adolescents who wish to either reconstruct the shape and size of the nose, or to restore the normal function of the nasal septum.
Rhinoplasty is allowed for girls and boys after the age of 18. Thanks to modern invasive techniques, there is practically no maximum age limit. Thus, it is applied both to adults over 45-50 years of age, where the nose is likely to appear more pronounced due to an increase in its size or reduction of fat in the facial area, and to people of a more advanced age who have a rhinophyma.
In addition, rhinoplasty is used to restore the organ after accidents or previous rhinoplasty procedures whose results were unsatisfactory.
General anesthesia is usually required. In some cases, the procedure can be performed under local anesthesia and mild sedation. In any case, you will be informed in detail by the surgeon, who will decide the type of anesthesia required.
The procedure can take from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the case.
At VF Laser Clinics we use both the technique of closed and open rhinoplasty. The technique used depends on the type of problem and medical factors evaluated by the surgeon.
During your visit, you will have the opportunity to raise all your concerns with the doctor, and learn any details related to the change you wish to make and the procedure.
Depending on the procedure, the patient may return home after a few hours or stay overnight at the clinic.
Modern rhinoplasty techniques have greatly reduced the degree of patient discomfort. Postoperative pain is generally mild and is treated with simple painkillers.
Depending on the type of procedure performed, postoperative care guidelines differentiate in some respects.
In general, a light diet, avoiding smoking, and taking appropriate antibiotics as a precautionary measure are recommended. Due to the nature of the surgery, swelling and often bruising under the eyes occur during the first few days. The above is a normal reaction of the body, and subside in a relatively short period of time.
The results are visible with the regression of the swelling and bruising, within 2-3 weeks.
The cost depends on the nature of the problem, and the technique to be used.
At VF Laser Clinics we treat the problem in a completely individualized way, in order to reduce the costs for the patient as much as possible.
Therefore, costs are determined according to individual needs, and may vary for the same area for different people.
In many cases where the problem is not particularly severe, the plastic surgeon can offer improvements to the shape of the nose without surgery, using hyaluronic acid (fillers).
The procedure is simple, quick and completely painless, and the patient can return to his activities immediately.
Non-invasive rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid is indicated:
- to smooth the hump on the bridge of the nose, if it is not particularly pronounced.
- to support the tip of the nose, which tends to droop in the course of time.
- to eliminate transverse wrinkles (bunny lines).
- to correct problems from a previous rhinoplasty.
The results last about a year, and the procedure can be repeated.
Modern rhinoplasty techniques restore the nose aesthetically and functionally, improving the overall appearance of the face.
For this very reason, the decision to undergo surgery must be taken after careful consideration, and there should be realistic expectations. A “French” nose, for example, does not suit all faces.
Furthermore, and since the standard of beauty varies from person to person, the aim is a natural result in harmony with other individual characteristics.
