TRANS PRK

ADVANCED LASER EYE SURGERY WITHOUT INCISIONS!

Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy or Trans PRK is a revolutionary laser eye surgery, that does not involve neither the use of incisions nor the touch of mechanical devices.

The treatment takes place on the upper surface of the cornea; a technologically advanced laser which is programmed with specifications on how to reshape the lens of the eye, gently removes the epithelium and precisely reshapes the cornea.

Trans PRK requires the shortest treatment time among the different laser vision correction procedures.

Trans-PRK is suitable for many patients who aren’t eligible for Femto LASIK surgery.

AT VF LASER CLINICS WE ONLY USE ADVANCED, FDA APPROVED LASERS.

Trans PRK is an advanced surface laser treatment.

No surgical instrument touches the eye and there is no cut or flap. The treatment takes place directly on the upper surface of the cornea; in less than one minute, the epithelium is gently removed and the cornea precisely reshaped.

As treatment time is extremely short, the risk of corneal dehydration is minimised. Moreover, as the wound area is small, healing is very fast.

With Trans PRK we can correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

Step 1:

Patient looks ahead at a blinking light.

Step 2

With the advanced laser, epithelium cells are removed  and the cornea is precisely reshaped. No surgical instrument touches the eye.

Step 3

The entire procedure takes between 5 and 15 minutes per eye, including overall setup for the surgery itself.

With Trans PRK we can correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

Trans-PRK is suitable for many patients who aren’t eligible for Femto LASIK surgery.

Furthermore, it’ s ideal for professions where sharp vision is needed (e.g. athlets, military personnel, etc.).

There are cases, however, in which the transepithelial approach is not suitable. In a consultation, and thereafter a preliminary examination, we can determine if Trans-PRK is the most appropriate treatment method for you.

Yes, you can! Many patients elect to have both eyes operated upon the same day out of convenience.

With Trans PRK, surgery is 100% customized for each eye.

Trans PRK is a patient friendly procedure.

During the first days after surgery, the patient experience have some eye pain and discomfort, but that is normal and should be relieved by over-the-counter painkillers.

Most patients can start routine activities after a week.
