FEMTO LASIK

PERMANENT VISION CORRECTION, IN 10 MINUTES!

The Femto LASIK procedure (also calledbladeless LASIK or all laser LASIK), is the modern evolution of LASIK surgery.

While in conventional LASIK surgery the cornea is cut with a bladed surgical tool, in Femto-LASIK surgery the cornea is opened with a high-precision laser.

The flap creation using femtosecond technology is a controllable procedure; the diameter, the thickness, the angle of the flap’s limits, are all defined by the surgeon, prior to the application of the Femtosecond Laser. Moreover, greater visual defects can be treated, and the healing process is accelerated.

NASA has approved Femto LASIK for astronauts, as it is an extremelly precise, patient friendly procedure.

AT VF LASER CLINICS WE ONLY  USE ADVANCED, FDA APPROVED LASERS.

ADVANTAGES OF FEMTO LASIK TREATMENT AT VF LASER CLINICS:

At first, the top layer of the cornea is opened circularly and folded aside (flap). Whereas conventional LASIK uses a bladed surgical tool (called a microkeratome), femto-LASIK uses a femtosecond laser for forming the flap. As a result the process is 100% precise and lasts less than 10 seconds!

Then, an excimer laser is used in order to reshape the underlying corneal tissue and to correct the refractive error (the vision impairment). Finally, the flap is returned to its original position.

During femto-LASIK eye surgery, no surgical blade of any kind is needed. Classic LASIK tends to be replaced by Femto LASIK as it is a much more safer, gentlier, and precise method.

Generally, almost anyone who qualifies for conventional LASIK surgery is a good candidate for Femto LASIK.

  1. The top layer of the cornea  is opened circularly (flap).
  2. The flap is folded aside.
  3. The surgeon applies the Excimer Laser treatment and carries out the individual correction procedure for each eye.
  4. The flap is carefully closed.
  5.  The entire procedure takes between 8 and 15 minutes per eye, including overall setup for the surgery itself.

With Femto LASIK we can correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

Conditions for a laser eye treatment:

    • The person must be at least 18 years old.
    • The visual impairment shouldn’t have changed substantially in the last 2 years.
    • The cornea should be thick enough.
    • No serious eye disease should be present (like glaucoma or cataracts).
    • No systemic disease should be present (like arthritis, diabetes, etc.).
    • The operation must not occur during pregnancy or nursing.

If you meet these criteria, you are eligible for laser eye treatment. In a consultation, and thereafter a preliminary examination, we can determine if femto LASIK is the most appropriate treatment method for you.

Yes, you can! Many patients elect to have both eyes operated upon the same day out of convenience.

With Femto Lasik, surgery is 100% customized for each eye.

Femto Lasik is a painless, patient friendly procedure.

The recovery is very quick so that most patients can start routine activities after 2-3 days!
